Ion acceleration by weekly-magnetized electron beam

Description

A study was made on cyclotron-focusing instability of two-stream electron-ion system in weak homogeneous external magnetic field under the assumption about process periodicity (boundary problem). It is shown that accelerated charge density wave of electron beam with captured ions forms in wide range of values of system parameters at non-linear stages of instability. The given mechanism of ion acceleration doesn't set limits on system parameter tolerance, which represents serious advantage as compared to other types of collective ion accelerators with linear electron beams
