Description

In this paper, the electron orbits in phase space for variable parameter wigglers are given. The condition that an electron lies on the closed orbit has been obtained. By means of this condition, one can calculate the trapping fraction and its changes in the operating process. A new design scheme of variable parameter wigglers which can retain the maximum trapping fraction and make electron deceleration maximum is proposed. With it, gain and efficiency can be enhanced.
