Decreasing residual internal stresses in surface layer of electro-erosion machined parts

Creators

Description

The stress formation processes are considered in a surface layer of parts machined by the electric erosion technique. It is shown that for a marked decrease of stresses the process should be conducted at temperatures corresponding to the structural transformations. On this ground a new method has been developed. When machining parts of steels U12, -KHG, molybdenum by this method the residual internal stresses in the parts got 2.5 times lower. This permitted to conduct machining at more coarse regimes without a danger of microcracks formation
