Description
Efficient and adequate protection against flood hazards of nuclear power plants are regulated in the German standards KTA 2207. For this purpose a reliable description of flow pattern in the real system in case of a possible flooding is necessary. Using hydrodynamic-numerical models allow describe spatial and temporal sections of a real system. Today state-of-the-art is the use of two-dimensional models. The hydrodynamic-numerical modeling is of main importance for the design of flood protection measures. The authors demonstrate the use of hydrodynamic-numerical models for the case of storm flood protection including dike break hazards for nuclear power plants in tidal estuaries.
