Description

An investigation was made of uranium ores from north Bohemian deposits. In view of the fact that uranium mineralization in these deposists is scattered and has minute dimensions an electron scanning microscope, an energy dispersion analyser and a wave dispersion spectrometer were used in the study. It was found that with regard to mineral association the deposit is quite extraordinary, the main minerals being uraninite, ningoyte and hydrozircon. Also found were brockite, phosphates of some rare earths, gelbaddelyite, etc. All determined minerals are tabulated. Uranium ores were divided into four technological groups according to their mineral composition and experimental yield. Great variability was found of the technological properties of uranium ores in the deposit and the need was confirmed of mineral surveys for their efficient use. (E.S.). 1 tab., 3 figs
