Excited B states at LEP

Creators

  • 1. NIKHEF, P.O. Box 41882, 1009 DB Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Description

The first orbitally excited B states were discovered at LEP in 1995. In subsequent years evidence was put forward for the existence of several excited B hadron states. Now, ten years later it is time to review the situation. New analyses have been performed in DELPHI using the full LEP data set with improved and high performance analysis tools. Measurements for the production rate and masses of narrow and broad Bu,d** mesons will be presented as well as results for the search for Bs** mesons and Σb(*) baryons. The results will be compared to earlier measurements, predictions from HQET and measurements in the charm sector
