Community development in nuclear waste isolation

Community development and the processes associated with it provide a general set of guidelines applicable to the siting of nuclear repositories. This chapter points out the importance and feasibility of a carefully designed, professionally administered, community development program in nuclear repository siting. Basic to the process is open and concerted debate of key issues and a display of mutual respect and consideration between the siting agency and community residents.
