Description
Today's men are experiencing an unprecedented technological advance allowing the use of increasingly large chemical dyes. However, a recent fashion trend continues to grow and results in a return to nature: The idea is to combine well-being and ecology for man and his environment. In this context, several natural resources have been exploited as dyes for textile fibers. In this paper, a singular interest is brought to the fruits extract of Phytolacca americanna L. which was valued in the dye of wool yarns. Hence, the dye extracts and the primary color components of the fruits extract of Phytolacca americanna were analyzed. The color features of the extract under different pH conditions, the influence of temperature on dyes stability, the FTIR spectral analysis, and their application in wool yarns dyeing were studied. In addition, the dyeing performances of wool yarns with the fruits extract of Phytolacca americanna under different conditions (dyeing temperature, dyeing pH, and dyeing duration) are presented. The best dyeing results were obtained at pH 2, 45 min, and 90 oC. Besides, bio-mordanting processes were applied to enhance the dye depth and improve the fastness properties of the dyed wool yarn. Various shades and better fastness were obtained.
