Parity violating effects in the 2 2Ssub(1/2) yields 1 2Ssub(1/2) transition of hydrogen-like Ar+17
Description
The parity violating effects in the 2 2Ssub(1/2) yields 1 2Ssub(1/2) transition of hydrogen like Ar+17 are investigated within the framework of the Weinberg-Salam model for weak neutron currents using a hydrogenic atom model. Assuming sin2Qsub(w) = 1/4 the amount of parity impurity in the 2 2Ssub(1/2) state is estimated to be approximately 10-8, which does not contradict the observation of Marrus and Schmieder. (author)
