French inventory of radioactive materials and waste: forecast of radioactive waste including dismantling waste - 000042

National Inventory of radioactive materials and waste is published every three years. It de-scribes the quantities of present and future materials and waste taking into account dismantling waste. The data is declared by the waste producers and holders (nuclear power sector, defense sector, research sector, industry sector and medical sector). The last publication of the national Inventory was in July 2018 and covers the waste produced by facilities having obtained their construction permit by the end of 2016. The volumes of waste correspond to the volumes of waste conditioned. In France, regulations require holders of radioactive materials and waste to provide inventories of radioactive waste present in France and also to make production fore-casts at different dates (for the end of 2030 and 2040 for the national Inventory 2018). The national Inventory also includes prospective evaluations of waste and materials that will be generated by all authorized facilities until the end of their operating life, including dismantling to reflect any changes in energy policy affecting the nuclear industry. This paper is a brief synthesis of the 2018 inventory. (author)
