Stabilized radiocarbon facility on integral microcircuits with an active shielding on a CsI(Te) monocrystal

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

A liquid scintillation device (with stabilization by reference light pulses) designed for counting natural carbon is described. The employed shields against outer ionizing radiations for 62x67 mm nonhydroscopic CsJ(Tl) monocrystal is not inferior in efficiency to a 2.5 cm thick mercury shield. As the fabrication of the active shield is less complicated, its employment in natural carbon devices with liquid scintillation detectors is more preferable than the use of the mercury shield
