Residual stresses in Peach Bottom test elements analysis vs experiment
Description
Operating stresses and residual shutdown stresses in fuel elements irradiated in the Peach Bottom Reactor were calculated with finite element methods. Calculations of deformation and stress due to primary loads were also made. Results of the calculations were used to develop an experimental analysis of graphite fuel and reactor elemnts. Measured deflections and fracture loads were then compared with predictions made with the analytical methods and data to be verified. (Auth.)
