Classification of functional highlights of CBCT. Innovative aspects and significant benefits in terms of reducing the dose to the patient

the digital image in the last decade has profoundly transformed landscape work of all sectors related to diagnostic imaging and no exception the dental field. The combination with the computer world that provided the driving force and the development of nano technology for the realisation of the panels based on the silicium -both CCD and CMOS-APS- has laid the foundations for the presentation of a new three-dimensional acquisition mode. This new technology is based on a conical beam that allows you to have an image of computerized tomography (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) from which the acronym CBCT. Two other factors have been crucial with respect to the classic method up to now available (TC multislice): More reduced costs and sizes more reduce. Add to this the possibility of obtaining images without distortion regardless of cutting planes from the districts, situation that allows the practitioner a total safety especially in prosthodontics and surgery, it is easy to imagine the evolution provided for in the next few years.
