Fine structure of mass fragment distribution in 232Th fission by neutrons

Description

Fission of even-odd nuclei produced in bombardment of 232Th nuclei by neutrons at energies of 1.2, 1.32, 1.57 and 3.0 MeV is investigated. The kinetic energies of pairing fragments have been measured. Measurements have been conducted in the geometry, the maximum dispersion of angles of fragment spread not exceeding 25 deg. Fragment mass distributions for various neutron energies are obtained. Variations in the excitation energy are observed to affect the fine structure of the fission product yield. This structure of fragment mass distribution distinctly is seen at a neutron energy of 1.2 MeV and it becomes less distinct with increasing the neutron energy
