Experimental studies of fuel assembly strength in Pressurized Water Reactors

Description
A description is given of a comprehensive approach to the justification of the FA strength and integrity, based on the analysis of the results of a few cycles of experimental pre-reactor tests (static, thermo-mechanical, impact, vibration, seismic etc.). The paper covers the approaches, testing methods and experimental results obtained in OKB "GIDROPRESS" for more than 20 years of the investigations in the field of the strength of all elaborated designs of fuel assemblies. The necessity of an integrated strength analysis was shown at FA design improvement.
