Description
Several researchers have researched combustion engines, especially those that use biodiesel fuel. However, most of the biodiesel raw materials used are derived from crude palm oil, castor seeds, used cooking oil, and palm oil mill effluent. This research uses biodiesel fuel with raw material from soybean oil and still very rarely done. Experimental results show that specific fuel consumption increases along with the increase in the biodiesel composition of soybean oil in the fuel mixture. The amount of CO and HC exhaust emissions decreased when using fuel B10, B20 and B30. Experimental data show that maximum power is 1.26 kW, specific fuel consumption is 373.15 g/kWh and maximum thermal efficiency is 23.04% when using diesel fuel. The maximum temperature of the diesel engine combustion chamber is obtained at 507.86°C when using diesel fuel. Minimum combustion temperature is obtained when the diesel engine uses B30 of 388.49°C, and this condition is strongly influenced by calorific value of the fuel. (paper)
