Safety in nuclear power plants : inherent safety features of pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) and safety built into design
Creators
Description
The unique design concepts of PHWR systems offer certain intrinsic advantages with respect to safety, both during normal operations and accident conditions. Some of these key safety features are inherently available in natural uranium dioxide fuelled, heavy water cooled and moderated pressure tube type PHWRs, while others are specially engineered safety systems. The summary of inherent safety features of a PHWR is given. (original)
