Are photovoltaic installations emitting radiations harmful for mankind and for animals?

As any other electrical device, photovoltaic installations are emitting electromagnetic radiations, and this article discusses whether these radiations are harmful for mankind and for animals. Thus, it first recalls the definitions of electric and magnetic fields, and the direct and indirect effects of electromagnetic fields. Then, after a description of a typical photovoltaic installation with its different electrical components (arrays, inverter, converter, counter...) which are its various sources of electromagnetic radiations, it outlines that, 2 meters away from the installation, the electromagnetic field is the same as the Earth's natural field. Even this level is very low, possibilities of a further reduction of these electromagnetic emissions are briefly overviewed
