Conditional analysis as a tool to investigate plasma turbulence

Description

In this work we present how the conditional analysis technique can be used as a diagnostic to detect and analyse the coherent structures that may be present in the plasma edge of a tokamak machine. If coherent structures play a role in the plasma edge turbulence it will have consequences for the modelling of the turbulence and transport. This paper shows preliminary results obtained with the application of conditional analysis to simulated data. A set of experiments are planned to be conducted at the TBR to study the conditional statistics of edge turbulence in the search for evidence of coherent structures in floating potential measurements.
