Beam position monitor system for SSRF storage ring

Description
The beam position monitor (BPM) system for the storage ring of Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) has been developed.In this paper, we describe the physics requirement, design principle,software and hardware architecture of the BPM system. Development and implementation of the digital BPM processor, button type pickup assembly and signal cable network are given in detail. Online data showed that submicron position resolution at 10 Hz data rate was achieved after one year commissioning and optimization. The BPM system satisfied the SSRF, with better performance than the design specification. (authors)
