URA core physics workstation - 145

  • 1. Utility Resource Associates Corporation, 1901 Research Boulevard, Suite 405, Rockville, MD 20850-3164 (United States)

Description

The authors upgraded an existing Windows based graphical user interface that worked with one set of lattice physics and nodal codes to a Windows 95/98/NT release that can be interfaced with any lattice physics or nodal source code. URA's Core Physics Workstation opens with a Switchboard screen where the users click on command buttons representing different reactors. The reactors may be PWRs or BWRs. The interface codes for lattice physics and nodal analysis of the reactors may be the same or different codes. For example CASMO-3 lattice physics with SIMULATE-3 nodal analysis may be used for a PWR, CPM-2/SIMULATE-E may be used for a BWR, and CPM-3/CORETRAN may be used for two other units one a PWR and the other a BWR. The analysis codes may be resident on the host Pentium PC, on a Unix workstation, or on a network of PCs and workstations. Reload design and reactor engineers use the Core Physics Workstation to refine their own reload designs prior to safety evaluations, to improve vendor designs, to analyze fabrication bids, and to support reactor operations. The most recent delivery was made in September 1999 to a two unit PWR plant. (author)
