The psychological impact of the radiological accident in Goiania
Description
This work describes the psychological impact of an accident caused by the violation of a capsule containing Cesium 137 in the city of Goiania, Goias, Brazil, in September of 1987. Its object is to confirm the importance of having mental health teams working, not only with accident victims, but also side by side with the rescue teams in the event of radiation accidents. Este trabalho descreve o impacto psicologico decorrente do acidente causado pela violacao da capsula de uma fonte de Cesio-137, de radioterapia, na cidade de Goiania, Goias, Brasil, em setembro de 1987. Tem como objetivo confirmar a importancia de equipes de saude mental trabalhando nao somente com as vitimas mas, tambem lado a lado as equipes de socorro em caso de acidente com material radioativo.
