Safety analysis based on independent calculations plays a very important role on the licensing process of nuclear power plants at CNEN. This work presents an overview of activities in the field of transient and accident analysis. A carefull choise of a calculational methodology is needed in order to perform safety analysis of different nuclear power plant design concepts. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

A analise de seguranca baseada em calculos independentes desempenha um papel muito importante no processo de licenciamento de usinas nucleares realizado na CNEN. Como ilustracao e apresentada uma descricao sumaria das atividades na area de analise de transitorios e acidentes. Uma escolha consciente e cuidadosa da metodologia de calculo e necessaria para a revisao de projeto de diferentes conceitos de usinas nucleares. (Autor)
