Determination of composition in size of airborne particulate matter by INAA
- 1. Institute of High Energy Physics, Academic Sinica, People's Republic of China
Description
Samples of airborne particulate matter were collected with a cascade-impactor at five sites in the Beijing-Tianjin area of China. A nondestructive neutron activation analytical procedure for the determination of 40 elements in airborne particulate has been designed. Samples are counted after (1) 3 minutes (2) 3 days and (3) 15-20 days following reactor irradiation for (1) Al, Ca, Mg, V, Cu, Ti, Cl, I, In, Mn (2) Na, K, Br, As, Sb, W, Ga, U, La, Sm (3) Cr, Hf, Sr, Ba, Zn, Sb, Se, Hg, Ta, Ce, Eu, Yb, Tb, Lu, Fe, Co, Rb, Cs, Th, Sc, Ni. Distribution of 40 elements can be classed as coarse particle, fine particle and mixed distributions. (author)
