Capture from the vacuum in ion-ion collisions at relativistic energies
Description
In this paper we formulate a distorted-wave model for the production of e+-e- pairs with the simultaneous capture of the created electron into a bound state of the target ion in ion-ion collisions at relativistic energies. Differential and total cross sections are calculated for the experiments proposed and compared with the model of the first Born approximation. (author)
