Description
In an approach to develop single phase crystalline ceramic wasteform, the current work fabricated oxyapatite based waste form of the general formulae Ca1-xAxLa4-yREy(SiO4)3O. The results established the consolidation of divalent ions such as Pb2+, Sr2+ and trivalent rare earth ions into the apatite lattice. The simulated waste forms were synthesized by solid state method. The resultant wasteform compositions are: CaLa3.4Ce0.1Pr0.1Nd0.1Sm0.1Gd0.1(SiO4)3O(WF-1) and Ca0.8Sr0.1Pb0.1La3.4Ce0.1Pr0.1Nd0.1Sm0.1Gd0.1Y0.1(SiO4)3O. (author)
