Reaction of LnI2 or LnI3 with PhC≡CNa in tetrahydrofuran (THF) can be used for preparation of phenylethynyl derivates of the lanthanides (PhC≡C)2Ln(THF)x (Ln = Sm, Yb; x = 1, 2) and (PhC≡C)3Ln(THF)x (Ln = Pr, Nd, Dy, Ho, Er, Lu; x = 1, 2) with the yields 79.0 - 95.3 %
