Description
The authors study the behaviour of the fragmentation function D calculated from jet calculus and recombination ideas as a function of the form of the recombination model. It is found that the jet calculus kernel in the expression for D has an unexpected high probability for configurations in which a fast and slow parton recombine to make a meson. Also, the Q2 evolution of the term that recombines a quark and an antiquark which come directly from the QCD jet without materializing intermediate gluons is unique in that its 'fixed' point is large, x approx. 0.7.
