Description

We study the possible distortions of the evolution of the early universe caused by the oscillations of a standard neutrino (νe, νμ or ντ) into a light 'sterile' neutrino state, a gauge group singlet νs. The effects on the standard big bang nucleosynthesis are considered in the full space of the mixing parameters (δm2, sin 2θ). A significant portion of this parameter space is thereby excluded, or at least made highly improbable. (orig.)
