Description
Investigated is the oxidation of intermetallic phases containing titanium, zirconium, hafnium with iron, cobalt, nickel, copper in the temperature range of 600-1200 deg C in air. It is found, that at 600 and 800 deg C titanium and zirconium intermetallics with this elements oxidize more intensively than pure titanium and zirconium, but at 1000 deg C less than pure elements. Hafnium intermetallics with iron, cobalt, nickel and copper oxidize to a lesser degree than pure hafnium within the whole investigated temperature range. The peculiarities of scaling formation and the scale phase composition are studied. It is shown, that formation of zirconium and hafnium nitrides during the oxidation of intermetallics occurs at lower temperatures (600 deg C), than during the oxidation of pure zirconium and hafnium
