Radiofrequency capacitive hyperthermia for deep-seated tumors: II. Thermoradiotherapy
Description
Forty patients with locally advanced deep-seated tumors were treated by hyperthermia combined with radiotherapy. Employing an 8 MHz RF capacitive heating system (Thermotron RF 8), hyperthermia was administered regionally once or twice a week after irradiation, 40-60 minutes for each session, 4-13 sessions in total. Total radiation doses varied from 28 to 70 Gy. RF capacitive hyperthermia combined with radiotherapy seems to be useful for the treatment of locally advanced deep-seated tumors. A new criteria for tumor response to thermoradiotherapy based on tumor regression, histopathological findings and low density areas in the tumor should be established
