Hybridization effects and charge transfer in ordered and disordered CoxAl1-x alloy films
Creators
Description
The Al(p)-Co(d) hybridization effects and the charge transfer in ordered and disordered CoxAl1-x alloy films were investigated using the Co L3- and Al K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements. From the reduction of the white line intensity of Co L3-edge and the high-energy shifts of Al K-edge upon alloying, it was found that the Co atoms gain d electrons, while the Al atoms lose p electrons upon alloying. The p-d hybridization effects are enhanced with increasing Al concentration and are stronger in ordered films than in disordered films
