Utilization of stainless steels in salt water heat exchangers
Description
Stainless steels are relatively little used in exchangers cooled by salt water. It is shown, that providing certain precautions are taken in the choice of grade of steel, the design of the appliances and the operation of the facilities, stainless steels can be quite valid solutions, economically and technically, to the problems posed by salt water exchangers.
Abstract (French)
Les aciers inoxydables sont relativement peu utilises dans les echangeurs refroidis a l'eau de mer. On montre que, moyennant certaines precautions concernant le choix de la nuance de l'acier, la conception des appareils et la conduite des installations, les aciers inoxydables peuvent etre des solutions tout a fait valables, economiquement et techniquement aux problemes poses par les echangeurs eau de mer.
