Description

We report on the numerical solution for a set of integral equations coupling amplitudes for various A = 2 channels, πd, NN, NΔ ... . The equations embody the solution of a field theoretical model for the NNπ system if no more than a single π is present in intermediate states. The results presented further refer to a version of the model where the NN amplitude is not dynamically generated but is calculated from a potential. We find angular distributions of approximately the correct slope missing about 30% of the observed differential and of the angle-integrated intensity. We discuss possible causes for this disrepancy and those observed in polarization observables. We conclude with an extensive comparison with theories used recently for the same reaction. (orig.)
