Discharge apparatus for filter assembly for radioactive contaminants

Description

This invention provides a means for removing spent filter material from filters for the removal of radioactivity from a fluid stream. The use of a pneumatic conveying device permits the removal of filter material without exposing personnel to radioactive contamination. The discharge apparatus consists of a conduit leading from the filter housing to a closed tank. There is a second conduit housing to a closed tank. There is a second conduit between the tank and a means of applying a vacuum, with a filter between the tank and vacuum pump. When a vacuum is applied to the system, the filter material is pneumatically removed from the housing and deposited in the tank. (L.L.)
