Weak gaugino production at the SSC

  • 1. Center for Theoretical Physics, Dept. of Physics, Texas A and M Univ., College Station, TX (USA)

Description

The prospect for the detection of supersymmetry from the trileptonic signal arising from the W/sup --/Z/sup --/ final state in PP collisions at SSC is examined. The most severe background arises from the leptonic modes coming from tt-bar final state decays. In addition a new phenomenon emerges at SSC energies in that normally hadronically quiet events are associated with considerable background hard jet activity. Cuts are proposed to drastically reduce the tt-bar background. Preliminary estimates indicate that the supersymmetric trileptonic signal should be detectable for Wino mass up to 80 GeV over a wide range of the t-quark mass
