Observations of solar particle propagation and solar modulation
Description
The observations reported on solar particle propagation represent a refinement and extension of earlier results, and include identification of several new classes of particle events, but do not result in revision of current basic ideas concerning propagation. The observations reported concerning modulation make clear that conventional modulation theory does not provide an adequate physical picture of modulation, and suggest important roles for gradient and curvature drifts and for large scale shocks in the 11-year modulation of cosmic rays
