Pion interactions at medium energies. Progress report, September 1, 1974--August 31, 1975

Within this past year research was undertaken at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility, Space Radiation Effects Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Data were obtained on π+ scattering from 12C, 16O, 40Ca and 208Pb at forward angles, the break-up of deuterium by 600 and 800 MeV protons, and pion production by protons incident on deuterium and hydrogen. Research continued in the development of multistrip scintillation detectors and in multiwire proportional detectors. A data analysis computer should be operational by the end of the contract year.
