Asymptotic SU(4) and the newly found narrow resonances
Description
The newly discovered narrow resonances called psi(3105) and psi'(3695) are studied assuming that the psi is the I = 0, Y = 0, uncharmed heavy member of the ground state vector meson belonging to a 15 + 1 representation of SU(4) group. The psi' may be taken as a radial excitation of the psi. The general SU(4) mass formulas, SU(4) particle mixings, and the possible selection rules involved are examined in a purely algebraic way within the theoretical framework of asymptotic SU(4), the chiral SU(4) x SU(4) charge algebra, and the simple mechanism of SU(4) and chiral SU(4) x SU(4) symmetry breakings which is characterized by the presence of the ''exotic'' commutation relations. One also discusses, through asymptotic SU(4) and the SU(4) charge-charge density commutation relations, the psi → e+e- decay in connection with the already known ω → e+e-, phi → e+e-, and rho → e+e- decays. One discusses in detail for the two possible quark charge assignments which are consistent with the suppression of the strangeness changing weak neutral current. In contrast to the hadronic decays of the psi which are first forbidden, the allowed nature of the psi → e+e- decay gives a clean information
