Surface erosion and re-emission behaviour of various types of carbon under helium-ion bombardment

Description
Surface observations and re-emission measurements have been made in pyrolytic graphite, isotropic carbon and glassy carbon with both polished and non-polished surfaces under 200 keV helium-ion bombardment at ambient temperature. It was found that a close correlation of the surface structural change to the re-emission behaviour found in metals is also applicable to carbon materials and that the surface deformation and the re-emission behaviour are strongly dependent on the structure of the carbon materials as well as their surface states.
