Fission gas release during post irradiation annealing of UO2

  • 1. Central Electricity Generating Board, Berkeley (UK). Berkeley Nuclear Labs.

Description

Uranium dioxide from AGR and PWR reactors irradiated to 1-4% burn-up has been annealed over the temperature range 1000 -17500C and the fission gas release measured. The effect of temperature, annealing atmosphere and burn-up have been studied. The fission gas bubble distribution has been studied using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. (author)
