Polarons in polyacetylene
Description
Recent theoretical studies of polyacetylene, (CH)sub(x) have focussed on kink-like solitons in the trans isomer. It is shown that the same theoretical models also predict polaron-like solitons in both cis- and trans-(CH)sub(x). The explicit form of these polarons, their relation to kinks, possible implications for experiment, and open questions are discussed. (Auth.)
