Restoration of endodontically treated parts
Description
The use of the microscope was determined as an improvement of the treatment given to a root canal prior to the placement of the post. The advantages of the dental microscope and its use were identified, since its use is more related to endodontic treatments. However, its use is increasingly common in other branches of dentistry, such as restorative, periodontics, surgery as well as at dental technical laboratories. Endodontic treatments were performed on dental pieces, to then do the desobturation with the drill system recommended by the manufacturer. The quality of the desobturation was compared in terms of the effectiveness in the complete removal of the obturation material (gutta percha and cement sealant) by taking periapical radiographs, and the visual evaluation by means of photographs taken with operative dental microscope. The time required for the process was measured with and without the use of the operative dental microscope.A better quality of cut of the obturation material was evidenced clinically and radiographically with the operative dental microscope, besides that the spaces that contain remnants of the obturation material were observed with greater precision. The time of desobturation of the post space, performed with or without the operating dental microscope was measured, lacking a statistically significant difference
