Duodenal Diverticulum simulating a pancreatic mass on computed tomography

Description
It is shown that computed tomography (CT) is probably the best imaging modality available for demonstration of pancreatic pathology. Meticulous attention must, however, be paid to scanning technique, and in interpreting the images the radiologist must be aware of various pitfalls whereby pancreatic pathology may be simulated, both by normal structures and pathology from adjacent organs. A case is presented in which a soft tissue mass seen in the region of the head of the pancreas on CT scanning was subsequently found to be a duodenal diverticulum. 11 refs., 4 figs
