Radiologist's view of the efficient use of diagnostic radiation

  • 1. F.A.C.R., I.A.C.P., Philadelphia

Description

Emphasis is placed on the excessive and unnecessary use of x rays for diagnostic examinations. In many cases the only benefit to the patient is psychological reassurance and radiologists sometimes subject the patient to unnecessary x radiation to obtain illustrations for research papers. The moral obligation of the radiologist to refuse to make an x-ray diagnosis is discussed
