Description

In this paper, we study the dipolar auto-correlation function in plasmas using the adiabatic approximation. We show that in addition to Stark splitting a new splitting, discovered earlier by Berry as a supplementary phase (Berry phase) in the wave function, has to be taken into account. We find that this phase affects the center of the line for hydrogenic emitters in plasmas. (paper)
