Susceptible genetic loci to radiation induced murine osteosarcomas on chromosome 7 and 14

Description

Aim of the study: The genes which are associated with the human cancer are frequent but have low penetrance within the population. The mapping and isolation of such genes in humans is complicated by the multiplicity of unlinked loci involved. In the study, performed in the Institute of Pathology, GSF, inherited factors of the susceptibility to radiation induced osteosarcomas in mice were investigated. Conclusions: In the vicinity of the previously mentioned regions are located several candidate genes e.g. Fosb (D7Mit247) and Rb1(D14Mit125). Analysis of germ-line mutations in C3H- and 102-alleles gives the possibility better understand the molecular mechanisms of the osteosarcoma susceptibility
