The developments which have taken place in the technique of welding over the last seven or light decades are briefly outlined. A master chart of welding and allied processes in use today is presented. Salient features as well as the merits and demerits of a few of the most modern and sophisticated welding techniques used in nuclear component fabrication are described. (K.B.)
