Application of thermoluminescent dosimetry for measurement of the dose of iridium 192 delivered during treatment for prostatic cancer

Description
A dosimetry study using lithium fluoride TL dosimeters was conducted, in order to evaluate the in vivo doses of 192 Iridium received during the treatment of prostate cancer, by the prostate and the neighbouring intracavitary regions (bladder). The comparison of these results with data calculated with TPS computer shows a difference of 4%. This difference is widly acceptable in curietherapy where the gradient of dose is important. The dose to the bladder is 50% of the dose delivered to the prostate. This allows to establish correlations and forecast on the quality of the treatment
Abstract (French)
Une etude dosimetrique par thermoluminescence avec le fluorure de lithium a ete realisee au cours du traitement par l'iridium 192 de la prostate d'un patient, en vue d'evaluer la dose in vivo recue par la prostate et les regions intracavitaires avoisinantes. La comparaison de ces resultats avec celles calculees par ordinateur TPS montre une difference de 4% au niveau de la prostate. Cette difference est largement acceptable en curietherapie ou le gradient de dose est important. Par ailleurs, la dose a la vessie est en moyenne egale a 50% de la dose delivree a la prostate.
