The beginnings of German breeder development which had their starting point and center in Karlsruhe lie back around 25 years. The most important safety problems had been offended very early and, already 20 years ago, there was no doubt about the realisability of safely-operated sodium-breeders left. The finer network of research, development, and construction was filled out with the activities for the KNK and the SNR-300. The progress of the activities at SNR-2 has to be seen with the background of the general resource situation and the German-French cooperation. The development of the breeder fuel cycle even exceeded the expectations. The political effects which considerably influenced the escalation of the costs and the delayed finishing of SNR-300 still continue. (orig.)

Der Beginn der deutschen Brueterentwicklung, die ihren Ausgangs- und Schwerpunkt in Karlsruhe hatte, liegt ueber 25 Jahre zurueck. Die wichtigsten Sicherheitsprobleme wurden sehr frueh in Angriff genommen und bald so weit ueberblickt, dass bereits vor 20 Jahren kein Zweifel an der Realisierbarkeit sicher betreibbarer grosser Natrium-Brueter bestand. Das filigranere Netzwerk von Forschung, Entwicklung und Konstruktion wurde mit den Arbeiten fuer die KNK und den SNR-300 ausgefuellt. Die weiterfuehrenden Arbeiten zum SNR-2 sind vor dem Hintergrund der allgemeinen Ressourcensituation und der deutsch-franzoesischen Kooperation zu sehen. Ueber die Erwartungen hinaus guenstig entwickelte sich der Brueter-Brennstoffkreislauf. Die politischen Einwirkungen, die ganz betraechtlich zur Kosteneskalation und Terminverzoegerung des SNR-300 beigetragen haben, dauern noch an. (orig.)Additional details
